I’m so excited to share that one of my fonts can now be used by Minted artists for customizable cards like this adorable classroom valentine by @oliviagoreedesign
I love when a business licenses one of my fonts, but this one is special because I am a Minted artist myself and love the company and their model, so it’s a huge honor to be chosen as a font maker for their products!

how it works
I created this font called Road Trip Print, and Minted licensed it for their customizable cards wherein customers can enter the text they want to see on the cards. That means customers get to type with my font, and designers get to incorporate it into their designs, which is such a dream for me!
How it happened
Years ago, I started listing my fonts for sale on Creative Market, and while the fonts have been licensed for many different businesses, graphic design products, and apps over the years, this one is by far the biggest and the one that touches my heart as a Minted fangirl.
Lesson: Get your work out into the world using high-traffic platforms like Creative Market (Etsy would work well too!).

How I made the font
Let’s back up a step because some of you are thinking, “wait, you made a font on your iPad?”. Yes! I never touched my computer when I was making this font, and I share my whole process for making easy handlettering style fonts on your iPad like this one in this class.
Tip: Fonts can be as easy or as difficult as you make them, so start small and build up complexity over time!
how i market my fonts
I don’t. Sort of. I use SEO research and strong keywords to make sure that people find my fonts. Pretty letters don’t sell, searchable letters do. I talk more about my strategy inside the fonts class and my SEO class.
The result: I’ve sold over 500 fonts on Creative Market over the years and spent about 5 days building the tiny shop that I have on there. Needless to say, there is a gold mine of possibility for anyone who is passionate about lettering!

but...my fonts aren't perfect!
If your lettering and fonts aren’t perfect, that is actually a good thing. Then are plenty of “perfect” fonts out there already, and how long before AI is the one designing all the “perfect” fonts? Lean into your humanness and design a funky, silly font that catches people’s eye in this overly sleek AI-infused world that we live in.
Tip: You don’t have to be a master hand letterer or professional font designer to sell and license fonts!
