When I got the keys to my tiny house studio this year, I had to take a moment to step back and appreciate how far I’ve come. I literally started this journey as a depressed customer service agent with no creative income, and here I am, about ten years later, working in the studio of my dreams paid for by my creative skills.
The gravity of this journey is not lost on me as I know the true meaning of being in a creative rut. I struggled for years to make a single dollar from my art, and worked my tail off to build this business. All that to say, I hope that this tour serves as an inspiration for you to go after your biggest creative goals, even when they feel absolutely impossible!

I shared a short video tour with you all recently to give you a peek inside my tiny house and you all had so many questions. Where can we get some of these products? Where did you get your tiny house? Can we see more?? In this post I’m sharing the full tour with you so you can see the studio in all it’s glory.
You’ll find links to most of what you see in the photos at the end of the post!

the layout
The tiny house studio is nestled in the woods right behind my house so I have a short and sweet walk to work. Once inside you can see the simple layout: a drawing space on the left and a kitchen on the right. There is a little storage room off the kitchen where I can store all my cords, electronics and artwork samples in order to keep my drawing space clean.

I chose this particular spot for the studio because we live in the steamy south where summers are hot enough to literally melt playground equipment, so I wanted to be tucked away in a shady spot. I bought the tiny house from a local company that builds from scratch, and this was one of their smaller models that can be used as a home or office. They will build custom houses but they also sell pre-made structures right off their lot and offer delivery. We chose the delivery option and a very cool dude with snake boots pulled it right into this space.
the setting
If you know me at all, you know that most of my work is inspired by flora and fauna, so being out in the woods is a dream come true for this artist who needs to walk outside every day to feel creative. There is a path into the woods right outside my door, and I’ve witnessed more than one up-close squirrel fight since I moved in. I also learned not to leave my door open because birds fly right in as soon as they see an opportunity.

the drawing space
The main drawing space is somewhat simple with a wood slab desk I bought on Etsy, an adjustable height desk frame, and an adjustable stool (all linked at the end of the post!). I added some bamboo blinds to give some texture to the space, and put up some acoustic panels by stapling embroidered fabric to painter’s canvases covered in quilt batting. The rug is made from jute and sisal fibers (natural rug materials) and is a nice textural alternative to the slippery wood floors. Since I record all of my classes in this space, I needed to cover it with soft objects to help remove echo and reverb in my recordings.

the inspiration library
Behind the drawing space are some shelves with my inspiration library, plants, and objects that inspire me. This space doubles as my filming background so I get to change out the objects as I film new classes and add to my library.
Do you see the Sell Your Stuff Guide on the shelf? That is my free guide featuring 100+ ways to sell your work and is downloable as a PDF. Check it out here.

the kitchen
Let’s head into the kitchen where you can usually find me snacking, drinking tea, and using my standup desk (aka kitchen counter). The adjustable chair I got for this space works as a stool, so I can switch drawing positions throughout the day, which my back and neck appreciate greatly.

I love being able to switch to a new drawing space in the middle of a project to get a new perspective and position, so I made sure to set up a few different drawing locations that are comfortable and allow me to sit, stand, or move around as needed. Creativity is 50% blood flow y’all.

the vibe
What I love most is how I feel in this space. It is cozy and homey, yet bright and colorful enough to keep me inspired. It’s quiet and private enough for me to feel creative, but a few feet from my home so I can be there in a second if my kids need me.
