I’ve been dabbling in lettering for years, but couldn’t seem to find a type of lettering that fit my personal style. My problem is, I like ALL types of lettering, so I have trouble focusing on just one. Then I found chalk! Chalk lettering lets you combine hand lettering, calligraphy, and illustrative lettering into one bold black and white composition.
Enter my newest class: Chalk Lettering on Your iPad. I combined all of the things I’ve learned about lettering, illustration and design into one class that gives you everything you need to know to get started with chalk.
When you watch the class you’ll get all my chalk brushes, templates, and fonts. The brush set includes everything from controlled opaque chalk to a fuzzy chalk cloud.
As I was experimenting with chalk lettering, I realized that I had to create a new lettering template every time I started a new piece. I didn’t want to spend my time making the same templates over and over, so I created nine template shapes to go along with the class. These templates make it super easy to set up your lettering design in a few minutes without all the measuring!
I also wanted to incorporate some fonts that would take a lot of time to draw by hand, so I created some font brushes with a few basic font shapes.
I’ll show you how to create borders and flourishes to decorate your text, and how to use blending and shading to add depth.
This was one of my favorite classes to plan and create, and I hope you’ll love it too! Ready to watch the trailer? Go to the class page to get started. See you there!
